Clinical Observation Internships – Medical Genetics & Surgical Oncology

April 2026 | CHU de Rennes & Clinique de l’Anjou, Angers

Clinical immersion experiences to bridge my bioinformatics background with clinical practice:

  • Surgical Oncology (2 days) | Clinique de l’Anjou
Supervised by Dr. Nicolas Paillocher (Oncological Surgeon)
Discovered oncology consultations and observed breast cancer surgical procedures in the operating theater.

  • Medical Genetics (2 weeks) | CHU de Rennes
Supervised by Dr. Hakim Bouazzaoui (Molecular and Somatic Genetics Lab)
Observed patient consultations, multidisciplinary team meetings on rare diseases, and bioinformatics pipelines in medical genomics.

Sabbatical – Independent Exploration & Skill Development

August 2025 - April 2026 | Independent Work

A period of reflection regarding a potential orientation toward medicine (where I began revising medical courses and preparing clinical observations, detailed in my Medical Studies Project), which provided the opportunity to build a strong tech and AI culture through self-learning, prototyping, and AI-assisted coding.

  • Machine Learning, Computer Vision & AI: Followed Coursera ML Specialization, image analysis of fungal cultures (OpenCV, YOLO), local LLMs (Ollama, HuggingFace), and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Web Scraping & Data Pipelines: Fitness data extraction with Playwright, content parsing with MinerU and Beautiful Soup, integrated via Neo4j and RAG.
  • Infrastructure & Automation: N8N workflows, Docker, VPS deployment, and GitHub Actions.
  • Development & Scientific Publishing: Swift iOS app (Supabase), Rust/C (exploratory), Quarto, Typst, and Marimo reactive Python notebooks.

Supervised by Philippe Vandenkoornhuyse & Solène Mauger-Franklin

MSc Research Intern – Plant Phenotyping & Growth-Defense Trade-offs

Jan. – June 2024 | UMR 1345 IRHS, Angers

Developed semi-automated phenotyping of apple trees using robotic imaging to analyze growth-defense trade-offs, including monitoring of growth and resistance to Erwinia amylovora.

Supervised by Florent Pantin, Bao-Huynh Nguyen & Romain Larbat (RESPOM team)

MSc Research Intern – Plant-Pathogen Interactions & Phytocytokines

May – July 2023 | UMR 1345 IRHS, Angers

Phenotyped Arabidopsis thaliana resistance to Alternaria brassicicola in phytocytokine mutants identified via transcriptomics, as part of the ANR STRESS-PEPT project.

Supervised by Thomas Guillemette, Philippe Grappin (FUNGISEM team) & Sébastien Aubourg (BIDEFI team)
